The world Heritage Listed K’gari (Fraser Island), home to the people of the Butchulla Nation, is the largest sand island in the world and the only place where beautiful rainforests are found growing on stunning sand dunes at elevations of over 200 meters.
To get to K’Gari, we will first meet-up at the Kingfisher Bay Resort mainland office at River Heads near Hervey Bay. It will take you approximately 3.5 hours to drive yourself there from Brisbane. (We recommend car-pooling where possible and adding a 20 minute rest stop at the Caltex in Traveston). A seat on the 1pm shuttle and ferry to K’Gari will be arranged for you. Once we arrive at Kingfisher Bay Resort, we will release any “travel tensions” with a lovely yoga session, then check-in to our “Wallum Rooms” for a little downtime. There is a mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and a bathtub in your room. We will reconnect in the evening and share a 2 course welcome dinner followed by the spectacular Illumunia Light Show.
We will get-up early for a morning yoga session followed by a hot buffet breakfast, then the day will be yours to enjoy! You can explore the natural wonders of the island… or just relax by the pool. For additional cost, there are treatments at the Day Spa; Ranger-guided Activities; and the famous all-day Beauty Spots Tour – which is the best way to see the iconic sights of the island. We will reconnect for a soothing sunset yoga session, then the night is yours to spend as you wish.
After another lovely morning yoga session and hot buffet breakfast, we will check-out of our rooms ready to catch the 10:15am ferry and shuttle back to River Heads so you can start your drive home early. Alternatively, you can opt to catch the later 2:30pm ferry. (For additional cost, you may even choose stay another night).
Please note, the program may need to adjust due to weather conditions. For additional snacks, meals or drinks during your stay (other than those included in the package) there is a range of restaurants, bars and a general store at the resort that you can enjoy at your own cost. If you would like to include any “extra cost” items that require reservation such as spa treatments, ranger-guided activities, Beauty Spots Tour, extra nights accommodation at Kingfisher Bay Resort, or if you need a different room time or ferry time, please let us know in advance and we can arrange these for you at the time of booking.
